The story
Van Steenbergen met Mik Somers, son of theo's founder, in 2008 at a fashion show in the Moscow concept store Cara & Co, which stocked both theo frames and his clothes. Once he was back in Antwerp, a meeting with theo followed quickly. The partnership produced a run of sunglass series designed by Van Steenbergen and made by theo. Each series takes one theme, such as nature, film noir, abstract painting or minerals, and turns it into colour and line. 02 People Designer Tim Van Steenbergen 2008 Graduated magna cum laude from the fashion department of Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts (textile creation and theatre costume), then worked as first assistant to Olivier Theyskens.
