RAPP
Toronto family workshop making limited, logo-free frames start to finish.
The story
Mel Rapp's eyewear career began with sunglasses sold to classmates and, in 1978, a custom rimless frame for a client with a very strong prescription. In 1983 he opened Rapp Optical in Toronto as an upscale optical dispensary. It soon moved into designing and making its own Rapp Eyewear line. A dedicated factory followed in 2001, and since then Rapp has produced limited, individually made collections. They are sold in its College Street shop and through hand-picked opticians worldwide, including Albert Opticians in Ottawa. 02 People Founder, optician and eyewear designer Mel Rapp Toronto, Canada In the late 1960s he sold sunglasses to fellow students.
