Morà Busoli

Italian marble frames on carbon fibre, carved one pair at a time.

The story

Morà grew out of BBG, a precision-engineering firm in Mirandola near Modena that developed its own way to shape marble thin enough for eyewear. The first frames appeared at MIDO in Milan in 2016. The core idea is to bond brittle stone to an aerospace-grade carbon-fibre skeleton with a proprietary resin, so the frame stays strong and adjustable. Belgian designer Patrick Hoet later created the Hoet for Morà Busoli collection, whose Venti frame won a Silmo d'Or in 2018. 02 People Designer of the Hoet for Morà Busoli collection Patrick Hoet Bruges optician-designer and theo co-founder who pioneered 3D-printed titanium frames. For Morà Busoli he handled comfort, adjustability, lens fitting and style, while the Italian team handled weight and strength.
