Rare wood veneers, horn and gold, crafted as Luxembourg luxury eyewear.

The story

Belgian entrepreneur Maurice Léonard founded Wood Optic Diffusion, the company behind Gold & Wood, in Luxembourg in 1995 to make luxury frames from noble materials. Its craftsmen laid thin veneers of rare wood over aluminium, later adding buffalo horn, hand-painted silk, carbon fibre, and solid gold with diamonds. For years the frames were made in a workshop in Hosingen in northern Luxembourg, and the company also made licensed eyewear for Boucheron and Korloff. After a sharp drop in business during the pandemic, the original company went bankrupt in 2022, and the brand has since been relaunched under new owners.
