CABRIO

Bieke Hoet's sporty, colourful frames built from unexpected materials.

The story

Bieke Hoet started Cabrio in 2009 as an experiment with materials. Early frames were made by creasing and folding a laminated sheet backed with coloured polypropylene, and the first idea combined sunglasses with a cap visor. The line then moved into 3D printing, using laser-sintered polyamide and working with Belgian printing specialist Materialise, whose engineers designed snap-on clips that let parts be swapped. Today Cabrio offers optical and sun frames in many colours, and it also appears in HOYA and Materialise's Yuniku made-to-measure programme. 02 People Founder and designer Bieke Hoet 2009 Sixth generation of the Bruges Hoet optician family and a trained interior designer. She co-founded the Hoet design studio in 1997 and has led it since 2020.
