Bruno Chaussignand

A working optician's boldly carved acetate and refined metal frames.

The story

Bruno Chaussignand grew up in Nyons in Provence and came to optics almost by chance, after chatting with a tennis opponent whose uncle ran an independent optical shop. He trained in Morez, in the heart of French frame-making, and went on to work as an optician. While running a designer-only shop in Montpellier he began drawing his own frames, releasing his first collection under his own name around 2004. The family-owned brand now sells through roughly 300 opticians in France and abroad, and the US and Canada bring in most of its revenue.
